A sturdy chocolate cake, good for sculpting and decorating. People say it tastes like Devil Dogs!
3 cups all purpose flour
2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
1 1/2 cups of unsweetened cocoa powder
1 tsp Salt
1/2 cup buttermilk
1/2 cup sour cream
2 tsp vanilla extract
1 1/2 cup dark coffee
1 cup butter
2 cups sugar
-Sift together your dry ingredients: Flour, baking powder, baking soda, cocoa powder, and salt.
-In a separate bowl, combine your liquids: buttermilk, sour cream, vanilla extract, and coffee
-In a mixing bowl, cream together butter and sugar in medium speed
-Add eggs, one at a time on low speed Scrape bowl.
-Alternately add a third of the flour, and half the sour cream mixture to the butter mixxture, until it’s all in the bowl. Scrape after each addition.
-Pour the batter evenly between four 8′ cake pans.
Bake 45 mins-1 hr, until a tooth pick comes out clean, or until they are springy to the touch of a flat palm
