Practice Buttercream Icing

By Cakeb0t

This is a great buttercream to use while you practice piping! It is technically edible, but it’s super sweet. It has no butter in it, so it doesn’t need to be refrigerated.
Yields 1 1/2 lbs. Good for a 5 qt mixer

1 cup Shortening
1 box Confectioner’s Sugar (1 lb)
1 tbsp Meringue Powder
3 tbsp Water

In a mixer on medium speed, cream the shortening for 4 minutes with a paddle whip. Scrape the bowl.
Sslowly add sugar and meringue powder.
Add the water.
Beat for about 5-7 minutes until light and fluffy.

I have a little doubt, I’m starting making cakes and cupcakes, the thing is that I would like to use a recipe that doesn’t involve shortening, do you know of any?

    Thanks!!!
